New Works

I have 3 new works finished.  Take a look on my website under landscapes.  “Pathway”, “Warm Sunlight”, and “Surreal II”.  All 3 will be in the Hamlet Art Gallery on 7 Broad Street in Charleston, SC in a couple of days.  “Pathway” is absolutely lovely if I do say so myself.

New Painting

The painting that is mentioned in the “Funny Story Blog” is called “Early Morn”.  You can see the orginal at the Hamlet Fine Art Gallery, in Charleston, SC at 7 Broad Street.  Come visit us on Tuesday and you will find the 3 of us Mother, Daughter and Daughter painting together thru the month of January 2007.

New Paintings

I finally finished the masterpiece that I got so much help on from the children and dog.  Visit my website melindalewin.com or go to the hamletgallery.com to view it.  I should have them posted there in a couple of days.  It has been very hectic with the boys being home for the holidays.  Our gallery, The Hamlet Fine Art Gallery in Charleston, SC is open from 11am-6pm and starting next week on Tuesdays you may find all 3 of us, Kellie Jacobs, Melinda Lewin and Stephanie Hamlet in there painting together.  It is fun for us (daughters and mother) to get together and paint.

Follow up to Funny Story

It’s been a crazy week.  I’ve been trying to work on some new paintings for the Hamlet Art Gallery, but with the holidays it’s been tough.  That painting I mentioned in my last blog is going to be a masterpiece.  I got a new puppy for Christmas and she decided to drag her tail through it while I had it on the floor looking at possible frames for it.  I may have to have a very creative name for it.  How crazy is that.  My Mom, Stephanie Hamlet and my sister, Kellie Jacobs, haven’t had a lot of time to get together to paint like we normally do, because of the hectic holidays.  We have managed to get a few new pieces out, so visit us if you can at the Hamlet Fine Art Gallery on 7 Broad Street in Charleston, SC.  Hope to see you soon!  Melinda Lewin

Funny Stuff

Being an artist and having my own studio at my home in Charleston, SC funny things tend to happen to me.  I have two small children 3 and 4 years old.  I was creating one of my new masterpieces and almost had it ready to take to my Mom at the Hamlet Fine Art Gallery on Broad St. in Charleston, SC when I discovered my two young children had decided to add their input to the creation.  They had taken the bungee cords off my studio french doors, which is how I normally kept them out.  They took my fine paint brushes and go into the dirty paint thinner mixture and painted everything in site.  This included two of my art works in progress, the french doors, windows and floors.  You gotta love it! And here’s another painting they got a hand in.  Fortunately, with oils you can paint over them.
